Student Stories

The real measure of our work is the girls themselves. These are their stories, in their own words, drawn from conversations about growing up in the program.

Books saved me. They let me see beyond my surroundings, gave me dreams and hopes, and helped me set goals.

Growing up in Círculo de Amigas Foundation was one of the best opportunities I have had in my life. The program helped me grow in so many ways and truly improved my quality of life. I had a happy childhood, surrounded by books, workshops, crafts, and tutors who supported me at every stage. Most importantly, they helped me reach my goals. I finished high school and graduated from university in a field I love.

Books saved me. They let me see beyond my surroundings, gave me dreams and hopes, and helped me set goals. Through reading I could live countless adventures without leaving home. Many times my family could not afford school supplies, but thanks to God and my sponsors, I was able to attend class every year with a uniform and new notebooks. I would not be where I am today without Círculo de Amigas Foundation.

Supporting Círculo de Amigas Foundation means changing the lives of many girls. You do not just improve their future, you give them the confidence of knowing that someone out there believes in them. That gives us the strength to keep moving forward. I will carry my dear sponsors in my heart for the rest of my life.

Ruth

Veterinarian at Lácteos La Norteña

The program was a constant message that my origins did not define my destiny, and that I could do great things.

My name is Ruth, and I am a veterinarian. Today I work for Lácteos La Norteña as a collection supervisor, where I help guarantee the quality and safety of the milk that comes in.

My beginnings at Círculo de Amigas Foundation go back to when I was seven years old. Back then I could not imagine the impact it would have on my future, but today I understand that it was the place where my dreams began to become real. Receiving that support as a girl with limited resources, but with a strong desire to better myself, was the opportunity of my life.

For me the program was not only financial help. It was a constant message that my origins did not define my destiny, and that I could do great things. I am forever grateful to Círculo de Amigas Foundation, to the founder Patricia, and to my sponsors Clover and Paul, who were the foundation that let me move forward and become a professional.

To the girls in the program: keep going, make the most of every benefit, and never lose sight of your goal. With study and dedication, you can be great professionals too.

Sixth grade

All the activities we do at the círculo help us grow and learn a little more every day.

My name is Stefanie. I am 12 years old and in sixth grade. I have four brothers and sisters, and I belong to Círculo de Amigas Foundation, which helps girls with few resources so we can go to school and become professionals one day.

I love Círculo de Amigas Foundation because of all the activities we do. We take part in beautiful talks about self esteem and values, and our mothers are invited to talks too. I love the crafts. We have learned to make paper flowers, gift boxes, and decorations, and what we learn helps with our schoolwork.

The math tutoring helps me improve my grades, and we go to the library to read and then explain what the book is about. I love to read. All the activities we do at the círculo help us grow and learn a little more every day. I feel happy to be in this program, and I am very grateful for the help they give us.
