Students who participate in our sponsorship program receive a monthly scholarship to support both their educational expenses and supplement their family income to prevent withdrawal from school due to economic hardship or the need to work. We support around 40-80 students each academic year. 

We host regular workshops for both our sponsored students and their families on topics ranging from teen pregnancy, women’s health, nutrition, self-esteem, to parental communication and domestic violence.

Circulo de Amigas maintains a full- time tutor specializing in math and science. Our students come in for 2-5 small-group sessions per week, depending on need. If a student is struggling, there is no limit to the time we will dedicate to ensure that she sticks with an improvement plan and passes all of her classes.

Our goal is for all of the students who receive financial aid through Círculo de Amigas to study in a university. Our full-time staff works closely with each girl to discuss options for both schools and fields of study. Each student develops a college application and attendance plan, and we work closely with sponsors to be able to support the academic dreams of our students.

We operate the only local lending library and free computer lab, open to the public, in Jinotega. All students, regardless of whether they receive financial support from Círculo de Amigas are able to stop by our center, access their email or do research, and spend an hour or so reading.

An important part of our programs is the relationship we maintain with local agencies. The following groups are essential to maintaining a vibrant program at the center:
